About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in working with adult clients struggling with OCD, health anxiety and other anxiety disorders. Along with OCD I have experience treating other anxiety conditions including Generalised Anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, panic disorder and phobias.
OCD symptoms often cause a high level of anxiety and distress for sufferers. It is very rewarding to be able to work with clients to come out of the OCD bubble and back into their normal lives again.
I have been working as Clinical Psychologist since 2015. I have experience working in community mental health and private practice settings with adults, adolescents and families.
ERP Treatment Approach
I primarily use an Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) approach which is the most widely used and researched treatment approach developed specifically for OCD.
ERP involves working with clients to develop a better understanding of their symptoms, to build their skills in identifying and stopping compulsions (response prevention), and then to gradually approach previously avoided situations and triggers (exposure).
I have had training in Dr Michael Greenberg's Rumination-Focused ERP approach and utilise these principles and strategies as part of my treatment approach. Where appropriate I also draw on strategies from other evidence-based treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed approaches.
